Announcing Our Partnership with Big Tex K9 Kitchen

We are so excited to officially announce our partnership with Big Tex K9 Kitchen.

Owned by Melissa and Ashia, this mother-daughter duo is dedicated to creating homemade, gently cooked dog food and single-ingredient treats using high-quality ingredients. Every meal is made fresh within 48 hours of ordering and delivered directly to your door—including local delivery throughout the DFW area.

Their mission aligns perfectly with ours: making it easier for pet parents to provide healthy, balanced meals without sacrificing convenience or quality.

Making Nutrition Simple (and Enjoyable)

One of the biggest challenges in pet nutrition is not just what to feed—but how to make sure your pet is actually:

• Enjoying their meals

This partnership allows us to show just how simple it can be to build a bowl that checks all three boxes.

We tested Big Tex K9 Kitchen meals with four of our own family dogs—all with very different needs—and paired their meals with our Shop Healthy Pets supplements to create customized, functional bowls.

Note: All bowls pictured should have warm water added and mixed in before serving.

Designing Your Pet’s Bowl

Every dog is different—and their bowl should reflect that.

Here’s exactly how we build each of our dogs’ meals:

Nala's Bowl: 

Nala is a 5 yr old 85lb Great Pyrenees, she has had puppies, recovered from heart worm treatment that left her incontinent for over a year, and has seasonal allergies. We designed the Perfect Pumpkin™ to help manage her incontinence but found that it was powerful enough to treat her incontinence completely! All just from food, which has the power to heal! 

With Nala's many pre-existing health issues, we also have to watch her weight as she is prone to having hip&joint issues. We use Dr. Marty freeze dried food as her base, we do 1/2 freeze dried and 1/2 gently cooked, since we have switched to this diet (about 2 yrs ago) she has kept her weight healthy and has healthy energy to get through the day. She is happy with any food that we give her, but she seems to really love the BigTex White fish & veggie recipe, which is more low cal! Perfect for Nala! We also add 1 1/2 scoops of  Perfect Pumpkin™ to her bowl to help with her bladder health, as well as 1 heaping scoop of  ImmunoGut™ to help keep her gut health in balance.          

Suki's Bowl: 

Suki is a 2 yr old 60 lb Belgian Malinois/ Aussie Doodle mix. Luckily Suki has no series health concerns, but she is quite the picky eater! She also has moderate anxiety, which we treat with our Tranquil Tails™ CBD biscuits daily. Because of her anxiety levels, Suki eats her food way too fast and can make herself sick, so we always feed her meals in a slow feeder (pictured green bowl). Of all the recipes from BigTex, the Lamb and veggie recipe is her all time favorite! She eats only gently cooked food. We add a 1/2 scoop of Perfect Pumpkin™ and a full scoop of ImmunoGut™ to the bowl to help ease digestion and make her food smell extra tasty!

Juniper's Bowl:

Juniper is a 6 yr old 65lb Golden-doodle with a sever poultry allergy, so we asked Ashia what the best options would be, we tried 4 recipes on Juniper and she loved them all, her favorite is Whitefish & Veggies (pictured). We use a base of OpenFarm kibble, and use the gently cooked food form BigTex as a topper. Juniper is also known to have soft poops and a sensitive tummy, so we add in a full scoop Perfect Pumpkin™ and ImmunoGut™. 

Bonnie's Bowl:

Bonnie is a 6 yr old 65lb Golden-doodle with a sensitive tummy and is a very picky eater, we tried all of the recipes from BigTex and I was shocked at how much she loved each one, she completely finished her bowl every time, and sometimes even does a happy dance when we are prepping her bowl! 

We use a base of OpenFarm kibble, and use the gently cooked food form BigTex as a topper. Because Bonnie has a sensitive tummy and is a picky eater we add in a full scoop Perfect Pumpkin™ and ImmunoGut™ to boost the flavor in her bowl and to help ease digestion. Bonnie's favorite recipe from BigTex is the Beef & Brown rice recipe (pictured).

Where to Start

If you’re new to gently cooked food, we recommend starting with the sampler pack from Big Tex K9 Kitchen. It’s a great way to test different proteins and see what your dog prefers. 

We recommend ImmunoGut™ to nearly every pet, as it helps reduce chronic issues such as allergies and digestive issues, but also helps with overall wellbeing and boosts immunity, helping to delay the development of may chronic conditions. Perfect Pumpkin™ is great to have on hand to deal with soft poop or even diarrhea, use daily to help address urinary tract health issues in dogs.

We personally like to keep 2 different recipes in rotation for added variety.
